‘Wood doctor’ to tell how treat ‘old folks’

     (NWPR-OH) – At the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center in Troy, Ohio, on Thursday, October 7 at 7:30 pm, Chris Bayman will talk on the restoration and the care of 18th and 19th century furniture in the program, “The Care and Feeding of Antique Furniture.” During the Antiques Seminar, he will also provide tips on caring for wooden antiques, including there will be some small reproductions and restored antiques on display as well as his work in the Hayner’s Distillery Exhibit room.

     Since 1980, Bayman has been repairing and restoring antiques and furniture for collectors and antique dealers. He also sells antiques, fills individual and retail shop custom orders, including services to the prestigious Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities.

     The 2010-11 Antiques Seminar series focuses on artisans working in Ohio in very specialized areas. Upcoming in March 2011, Gayle Strege, Curator of the Historic Costume and Textiles Collection at the Ohio State University will present a textile program, and for April, Jim DeCurtins of the Tin Peddler Shop in Tipp City tells all about the old art of tinsmithing.
