TITLE: Spring Concert of the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Strings
BRIEF ABOUT: Conducted by Elizabeth Hofeldt, the concert begins with two diverse pieces: a Baroque concerto grosso by Arcangelo Corelli and Company for string orchestra, a minimalist masterpiece by American composer Philip Glass, with his characteristically melodies and harmonies, which marks the Dayton premiere of this work in honor of Glass’s 75th birthday, followed by one of Mozart’s most well known masterworks by Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The final work, an English Suite by Hubert Parry, is a romantic work filled with dance and folk elements from the British Isles, with dazzling displays for each section of the orchestra.
