Colombian artist Fernando Botero (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Botero) whose work is on exhibit at the Yellowstone Art Museum, will receive the International Sculpture Center’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award in October 2012.  Botero’s Monumental Cat (with Whiskers) has been on exhibit outdoors near the entry to the YAM since June 2011.  The sculpture is on loan from the private collection of William I. Koch. Botero’s work has had significant influence on contemporary sculptors.  The artist was born in Medellín, Colombia, in 1932.  He enjoyed early acclaim in Germany.  During the past decade in particular, his work has been exhibited very frequently in dozens of museums worldwide.
