BRIEF ABOUT: Headlining this gala event is Mississippi Delta blues singer Eden Brent.
She developed her gutsy vocal and piano chops through family sing-alongs and a 16-year apprenticeship with the late blues pioneer Boogaloo Ames, who ultimately dubbed his protégé “Little Boogaloo”.
Brent’s career has taken her from South Africa to Norway and put her on stages at the Kennedy Center, the 2000 Republican National Convention, and the 2005 presidential inauguration. She has received numerous awards including the Blues Foundation’s 2006 International Blues Challenge, the 2010 Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year and at the 2009 Blues Music Awards was named Acoustic Artist of the Year and her album “Mississippi Number One” was named Acoustic Album of the Year.
