TITLE: Lynette K. Waters- Whitesell Exhibit

BRIEF ABOUT: Born and reared in Hartford City, Indiana, Lyn (www.lynettewhitesell.com) is a Fine Arts graduate of Ball State University. For the last 16 years, she has been a graphic designer, illustrator and creative director. In addition, the artist has won local, regional and national visual communication awards for her graphic design work.

“Casual Confrontations” is a series of miniature mixed media works. The subject matter challenges the traditional notions of 'happy' and 'sad'. I crave the visual experience that results when heavy pigments and strong hues are juxtaposed with photos from long ago. The result: sharp, bold images layered with meaning and open to interpretation.

     Working in mixed media on canvas and panel, Lyn is inspired by ephemera and photos of yesteryear, whereas she experiments with both as digital transfers.  Note: On Saturday, January 12, 2013, an opening artist’s reception will be from 5:30-7:00 pm.
