Closest thing to Heaven

“Who’s Next†oil on board by Noah Verrier.

“If I don’t make art, I feel incomplete.†Painting is not a past-time for Noah Verrier. It is his life. From portraits and still life to landscapes and scenes of everyday life, artist Verrier strives to capture the underlying tones of emotion and beauty.

“Sis†oil on canvas by Noah Verrier.

Not only does the wonder of a shimmering lake attract Verrier’s attention, but also so does the space of time.  For instance, his series of 150 Sunsets was created at one location over the course of a year. He found that the slightest gap in time could deliver an entirely new display on dimension, color and shade.

Each painting has a calming quality all its own and the entire series was placed in book form for all to enjoy. Dundee Sunsets is another collaboration of meditative beauty set in Dundee Scotland.

“Popcorn†oil, 8 x 10 inches by Noah Verrier.

Verrier has been blessed with the ability of seeing life’s perfect details since childhood. He earned his MFA at Florida State University and went on to teach as a Professor of Painting and Drawing at FSU.

After 20 years of study and painting, he is now an independent instructor for artists of all levels of experience. He offers online classes and recently released an instructional video that covers allaprima oil painting. In addition, the educator also looks at the individual needs of students to help further their skills.

The artist prepares his own surfaces using Masonite and gesso on board or on canvas. He was inspired by spiritual landscape artists of the past like Turner and Inness.

Many of his still life and landscape has a loose grasp on the subject while portraits of animals and people have a tighter emotional quality in body language and facial highlights.

He has been honored with numerous awards and was selected as Emerging Artist of the Year in 2007 by Von Liebig Museum of Fine Art and the Naples National Art Festival.

Currently, Noah is enjoying teaching local classes in the Tallahassee, Florida area. As a full-time artist he also travels to different areas of the world to participate in shows. His true love is capturing the scenes of his native south. Diversified in large and small oil prints, he hopes to add more people portraits in the near future.
