Generation II of essential oils

Hydrosols are the result of steam distillation of essential oils. This process is able to keep the superior aroma and therapeutic benefit that is experienced by adding drops of oil to a diffuser. This allows the end user to apply to skin as a perfume, add to bath water or to mix with skin care products. You might even add to finger bowls for a romantic evening meal.

Just as important as it is to recognize the difference of pure, organic essential oils from synthetic oils, so it is with Hydrosols. Without having a background in chemistry and obtaining an MSD sheet from the supplier, it can be almost impossible to know if you are receiving the purest form with no adulterated changes.

The easiest way to tell the difference between a high-quality hydrosol and essential oil is by using the smell test. You do not have to be an expert to learn the difference between the real thing and a cheap imitation.

Think natural as you go into this test. If you detect an underlying hint of herbs in the aroma, your oil is probably pure. On the other hand, a counterfeit will have a sharp, crisp, managed scent that can only be arrived at with synthetic adulteration.

Hydrosols and essential oils are wonderful for soothing the soul, treating physical and emotional illnesses and reaching higher planes of spirituality. Hydrosols do not have to be diluted as do essential oils. They are milder and easier to control for daily use. However, always be sure of the quality of these products. It can make a world of difference in what you are hoping to expect.
