Blend of talents set to perform

(PNAN-NY) Friday evening at the Arts Society of Kingston on October 22 takes on a fall cabaret with a blend of genres, music, theater and spoken word, from a renowned collection of talents, all beginning at 8:00 pm.

In Theater, two of the People’s Choice winners from ASK’s 2010 Short Plays Festival revisits. “Impulse” by poet and playwright Victoria Sullivan, reminds us that many of life’s decisions are made on a whim. When the successful but disaffected Harriet Marchand meets a college student who wants to delve into her art with passion, she discovers that he has lit a little flame of desire. But is the age gap between them impossible to leap? Sometimes seduction is more complicated than we imagine. The play is directed by Ralph Elias, starring Sherry Skinker.

Under a full moon at the approach of midnight, “Mooning Lon Chaney” by playwright Ty Adams, the stage is set for a would-be werewolf, who makes an appearance on a late night radio show to face his demons. Shown first at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, it is directed by Karen Rich with Leif Grund and David Marks in the lead roles. Whether you howl in laughter or cringe in terror, this play will strike a nerve.

For the musical part, Ron and Aysa Morehead, who are not only husband and wife, but also equal founders of Crown Productions, have been performing duet for nearly 15 years. They will sing some of their most popular numbers such as, “Chess,” “Closer Than Ever,” “Songs for a New World,” “In The Heights” and others from shows.

And in the literary segment, Sandra Gardner will entertain and inspire your thoughts with her prose that has been published in journals and anthologies.
