INDIANAPOLIS, IN (NWPR) – To celebrate Black History Month at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, viewers can explore the theme of Black Resistance through film, visual art and discussion that honors the successes and challenges of Black Americans’ ongoing efforts in their fight for equity.
In addition to the complete programming, “In a Time of Panthers” is a new photography exhibition in Waller Gallery. The photographs taken by New York Times photo editor, Jeffery Henson Scales, highlight the Oakland chapter of the Black Panther Party he took as a teenager. These powerful images were recently acquired by the Newfields, first time they’ve been on display at the IMA and are the focal piece of Black History Month programming on view through March 1, 2023.
