Leland ‘protégés’ strut their stuff

(NWPR-OH) – On view at the Hithergreen Center in Dayton, “Exploring Watercolor” is an exhibit of 57 paintings by students of Nita Leland. “Exhibiting gives them the opportunity to share their pride in their developing skills,” said Leland. “The show is a stepping-stone in each artist’s creative growth. Matting and framing their work stirs a sense of achievement and raises their confidence level.”

On view through December 20, the works include portrait, still life, floral, fantasy and landscape subjects. Many come from a score of occupations, such as a free-lance textbook editor, real-estate agent, insurance broker, lawyer, engineer, nurse, social worker, accountant, sales rep, commercial artist, teacher and homemaker. They have learned to organize their paintings into eye-catching compositions, as they develop skills in watercolor, color and design.

The show is free and open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; with extended hours on Tuesday to 8:30 pm. For more information, call Rick Lewis at 937.435.2415.
