(PNAN-AL) – Going on view Sunday, December 19 at the Huntsville Museum of Art, “thINK” is a show that features the rich talent and individual developments that prevail throughout the members of the Boston Printmakers, who will have on exhibit 181 works highlighting their signature techniques.
With sometimes unfamiliar surfaces and concepts, printmakers are often asked questions about their work and techniques, such as “How did you make this image?” or “What inspired you to create this?” The works also in this show will focus on the traditions and innovations of printmaking.
Each work is accompanied by a “recipe card” with a brief statement that teaches the viewer something about the ideas or concepts that led the artist to select a particular technique and execution. The result is a mixed array of ideas and inventions, sometimes including the work’s “ingredients” (plate or substrate, paper, ink, miscellaneous materials) as well as processes (press, hand/spoon/baren, digital printer, mixed/multi-media, special secrets). These statements focus the handling of ideas and approaches that make each work uniquely the artist’s.

The Museum is closed on Mondays, however open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, with extended hours on Thursday until 8:00 pm, and on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 pm.
