Center’s family to show new works

     (PNAN-VA) – Opening on Wednesday, January 12, at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, the “3rd Annual New Works: Faculty, Students and Staff” exhibition goes on view. Featuring not only original artworks, but also the in-person experience provides each viewer to see the talent and creativity within the center’s walls.

     According to WAC, “New Works traditionally starts the New Year at the Workhouse with a delightful exhibit featuring original artworks created by the Institute’s faculty and their students of all ages.  This fun exhibit is a wonderful opportunity to view the work of our talented classroom and workshop instructors and the creativity and excellence they have helped their many students achieve.”

     An opening reception for the artists is Sunday, January 16 from 2:00-4:00 pm.

     Other upcoming events are the campus-wide “2nd Saturday Art Walk” on January 8 from 6:00-9:00 pm. More than 150 visual artists’ works can be found throughout seven studio buildings. Also on 8th, “Art with Heart” in Studio 605 from 7:00-8:00 pm. Studio Fiber Arts members will be creating handmade items for charity donations. A suggested list of charities, patterns and ideas to knit, crochet or quilt will be available.  Participants should bring their own materials and tools. For Wednesday, January 12 through Saturday the 29th, the Northern Virginia Bead Society Exhibition will feature over 100 artists working in studios 3-10. And on Saturday, January 15 at 7:30 pm, Gallery After Hours features The United States Navy Band’s newest ensemble, Skipjack Trio, which consists of vibraphone, guitar and double bass, performing elegant jazz and Latin stylings from Broadway and popular songs of a by-gone era.
