     (NWPR-OH) – The “Black & White & Shades of Gray Show” which opens Friday, January 14 at the Findlay Art League, at 7:30 pm the following will be presented with visual recognition as winners in the following classification:  Best of Show and Best Contrast: Harry Melroy, respectively, “Taffy Trap at the Door to Paradise” and “Crash Course”; Honorable Mention: Beth Ziss, “Ripple Effect” and Pam Cordeau, “Desert Thistle”; Best Texture: Janis Sweet Hoye, “Black & White & Not Read All Over” and Honorable Mention: Judi Herrin, “Too Much Coffee”Best Composition: Douglas Fiely, “Night Encounters”; Honorable Mention: Dan Czarnecki, “B-A-L-L-O-O-N-S”; Honorable Mention: James Andrews, “Railroad Landmark”; Most Mysterious: Randy Bennett, “Black and White”; and Douglas Fiely’s “Night Encounters” was awarded an Honorable Mention.

     The show, which remains on view through February 5, is about works all presented in black and white, ranges from sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, photography and other mediums.      Juried by Brock Clagg, he is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors degree in Visual Communication Technology, and currently is a Multimedia Specialist for the University of Toledo. Of one of his so far noted career highlights was with McGraw-Hill Educaton, where he led the interface design for “Anatomy & Physiology Revealed” – a virtual dissection program for teaching medical students. His work has also been noted by the Advertising Club of Toledo and the Crystal Awards of Excellence.

A sound of click for ‘shoot me’ types are on call

     A call for photographers for the 29th Annual Juried Photography Show is issued for entries to be submitted on Thursday, February 24, from 7:00-9:00 pm and on Saturday, February 26, 9:00 am-noon at the FAL Gallery, 117 West Crawford Street in Findlay.

     A “Photo 29” show prospectus and required accepted guidelines can be downloaded at www.findlayartleague.com, or at the Gallery.
