(PNAN-MT) – World-renowned songwriter, storyteller, recording artist, and television and radio personality, Red Steagall is the recipient of the 2011 Charles M. Russell Heritage Award. “Steagall is a true patriot of the American West,” said Darrell Beauchamp, Executive Director of the Museum. “He has made significant contributions, through his own brand of artistry, to what we like to think of as ‘Charlie’s West.’ His unwavering commitment to keeping the American frontier alive is why we chose Red…We’re honored to have him join us.”
In 2003, Steagall was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. He was also honored at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame with the “Spirit of Texas” award in 2004. In addition, Steagall’s radio show, “Cowboy Corner,” has been airing since 1994, reaching 43 states through 170 stations. His one-hour syndicated radio show explores the topic of the American West and the American cowboy through poetry, songs, and stories.
