“We’ve moved to a day-long festival model this year,” said Ian Hinz, Sidney, Ohio Raise the Roof Executive Director. “We listened to community feedback and decided that moving to a one day event was the best way to include more family friendly activities.” The new 2019 day-long Backstage Block Party (BSBP) concert is on Saturday, June 15.
Headlining this outdoor event is the internationally Absolute Journey Tribute touring group, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=aKJfQgXBXoM) which will take the stage at 8:45 pm, however the event begins at Noon throughout the day, featuring local bands starting with Reflektion, Kevin and the Others, City of Bright, Turnaround and MonkeyWrench.
This year’s BSBP also includes a Kids Arts Zone, from noon to 5:00 pm with activities of a community mural, face painting, mask making, sand art and button making. At 5:00 pm, the space changes to become the Community Impact Zone whereas local non-profit organizations share their stories about the people, places and events that have been successes for the community.
For more information, see: www.backstageblockparty.com. The block party is free to the public, the gates open in the parking lot behind the Historic Sidney Theatre at Noon. Food trucks and alcoholic beverages will be available for sale.
