About the birth of the United States of America

The Fourth of July (Independence Day) marks the Declaration of Independence of the United States which was declared on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subordinate to the monarch of Britain, King George III and were now united, free and independent states. On this day, mainly, public and private events, such as fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches and ceremonies are some of the ways this time is celebrated in the United States.
