A tri-state charmer stands boldly

(NWPR- IN) – For those in the region, winter is the perfect time to plan a get-a-way in northeast Indiana without venturing too far from home.  The historic Kimmell House Bed & Breakfast allows you to rest and clear your mind for the bustle of everyday.  Sit by the fire or melt in your own Jacuzzi tub without distraction while surrounded by the tranquil scenes of another era.

On the other hand, if you are in search for a memorable dining experience, re-opening on Wednesday, February 2 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm, a full service restaurant provides tasty meals that are well known of the area and a gift shop will let you take a piece of 1876 home with you.

Noble County is a quiet farm community that is one county south of the Michigan state line and one county west of the Ohio line.  White settlers came from the north and east to take advantage of the rich soil during the 1830s, replacing the Miami and Potawatomi Indians that were forcibly removed in 1838.  In 1876, State Representative Orlando Kimmell built the solid brick Italianete Victorian home that is nestled on 12 acres of woods and still stands boldly today.

Each bedroom offers a different atmosphere and decorated to match the Victorian era.  Summer kitchens were big in the 19th century and this one has been renovated into a three-room cottage retreat where the sounds of nature are all around you.  Your own kitchenette will allow you to make your own coffee or warm up treats without venturing out of your space.

Other rooms include the English Garden Room with a carefully preserved Queen Victoria full sized bed, the Cherub Room with an illuminated canopy queen-sized and fireplace or the Master Suite featuring a huge bay window with views of the carriage house, icehouse and chicken coop.  Private baths are provided with each bedroom selection along with hair dryer, local TV, wireless Internet access and ironing equipment.

And while you are in the Noble County – www.visitnoblecounty.com offers a large choice of places to visit, all in the heart of Amish country in Northern Indiana, beginning with the Kimmell House, a place where adventure could turn into not only a tradition, but also regular enjoyable experience.
