(PNAN) – November 1 is the deadline for the Minigrant application filing with the Mississippi Arts Commission. Offered in June and November, the Minigrants are to assist with smaller arts projects around the state. First time applicants are strongly encouraged to call and speak with a MAC staff member about their project before submitting an application.
“The Mississippi Arts Commission’s minigrant program provides the agency with an opportunity to meet a wide variety of needs in Mississippi communities,” said Malcolm White, Executive Director of the Commission. “Organizations may use the funds to present an artist from MAC’s Artist Roster, or it can assist with staff travel to an arts conference. Individual artists can increase their promotional efforts or use the funds for professional development. During these tough economic times, it is our goal to provide as much assistance as we can to artists and arts organizations across the state.”
Designed to meet a wide variety of needs, like stimulate arts projects in rural and underserved communities in Mississippi communities, the Minigrants for organizations schools offers non-profits or local government entities up to $1,000 to support presentations by members of the MAC’s Artist Roster, or to support professional development efforts for an arts organization. An organization can receive one Minigrant per fiscal year. Also, professional-level artists can apply to support promotion efforts, attending a professional workshop, or to purchase artistic supplies.
