Quilt show open to public

Shannon Naik of Beavercreek, Ohio says, “A love of textiles and desire to be artistically free to compose naturally led to an interest in art quilting.”

On view at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center in Troy, Ohio, “Still in Stitches” is an exhibition of quilts featuring more than 30 art quilts by Miami Valley Art Quilt Network. This show offers much insight to not only meet the creative artists, but also gain insight into their techniques and inspiration. The show will remain on display through Sunday, February 17.

According to Leona Sargent, Exhibitor Coordinator, “Each work is an original piece of art that just happens to take the form of a quilt. However, these are not your grandmother’s quilts.”

Fran LaSalle of Yellow Springs, Ohio says, “Basing my quilts on nature affords an opportunity to use a rich palette of textures and colors.”

Molinda Lauxmiller of Dayton, Ohio says, “Regarding my passion for fiber art – each time I touch and manipulate fiber, or pull thread through fabric, my spirit is nurtured.”
