Artist’s journey up in ‘lights’

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WA (PNAN) – On view through Wednesday, February 15, 2023, “Project Aurora” is a two-story light show inspired by the Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art which tells the unique journey about Ginny Ruffner’s artmaking for over forty years.

A bright wall of light approximately 20’ high and 10’ wide, with shimmering sheets of colored light is programmed to move from one direction to its opposite; thusly, due to the wall’s brightness and size, it is visible from a distance.

Best known for lampworking and painted glass sculptures, artist Ruffner’s prolific career includes paintings, installations, public art projects, metal and glass sculptures, cast glass, and works activated through augmented reality.

Additionally, this retrospective also debuts “Unperiodic Table” which is a tapestry enhanced through holographic images and “Ginny Ruffner: What if?” in the Beacon Window Gallery. Click on the following link for more about the show: https://www.biartmuseum.org/exhibitions/project-aurora.
