(AAPNW-KY) – “Healing Creatively: A Collection of Art Therapy Experiences from Kosair Children’s Hospital” exhibition goes on view Saturday, October 23 at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft in Louisville, featuring more than 75 artistic expressions created by the hospital’s children, families and staff, through December 3, the show will be comprised of drawings, paintings, sculptures, collages, writings and photography.
The exhibit explores how creating art helps heal children in the medical setting. “Art therapy is a non-verbal form of expression that allows patients and families to cope with their hospitalization, treatment, and illness,” says Kosair art therapist Elizabeth Martin.”Art making not only empowers our families to share their stories, but builds upon their strengths and improves resiliency,” adds Emily Johnson with the Norton Cancer Institute, who is also an art therapist.
