(PNAN-CA) – Recognized as one of the leading presenters in the world, the San Francisco Performances joins the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in the Novellus Theater for “Hibiki: Resonance From Far Away” at 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 11 through Saturday, 13th, with also a show date on Sunday 14th at 2:00 pm.
Told through six men, the Hibiki choreography expresses profound ideas on a simple set, whereas falling water slowly joins other pools, which are to powerful to reach by the dancers, who are highly recognizable by their shaved heads and dusted white bodies. The piece reflects Butoh’s push out of devastation and into renewal.
This Japanese dance troupe examines the Butoh language with Sanaki Juku dance form that mine Butoh for stunning theater and intimate views of universal themes. Described by the New York Times as showing “the human body as microcosm for humanity,” the repertoire deepens the experience of art in performance.
