On view at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City through Saturday, August 17, 2019, the South Dakota Governor’s 8th Biennial Art Exhibition showcases artists currently living and working in South Dakota. The jurors received over 300 entries and selected 75 works from 65 artists. This year the jurors invited twelve significant artists to accompany the juried selections.
Established in 2003 to recognize and encourage South Dakota artists and to promote the artistic identity of South Dakota, the exhibit also celebrates the cultural and artistic heritage as well as the future of South Dakota.

The exhibit travels to several venues around the state for an entire year. This year the three other locations include: The South Dakota Art Museum from January 25, 2019 through April 20, 2019, the John A. Day Gallery in Vermilion from August 30, 2019 through October 11, 2019 and the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in Sioux Falls from October 26, 2019 through January 19, 2020.
