(NWPR-IN) – Former First Lady Barbara Bush said, “You just don’t luck into things as much as you’d like to think you do. You build step by step, whether it’s friendships or opportunities.” In much the same way, that is how friends, Todd Ward and Jason Klingaman spurred their want to play with a big band in Northern Indiana, along with Mike Rush and Phil Zent, including other players in the area, answered the call of the proverb, “Opportunity only knocks once,” to form the Blue River Big Band on January 2001.
From their lofty beginnings, the Blue River Big Band has performed over 70 times in various venues throughout Northeast Indiana, and they pride themselves for its musical versatility from traditional big band, ballroom and also newer music, such as rock, pop and Latin with high-energy, guaranteed to get your blood pumping and set your toe to tappin’.
