‘Boosts of green’ are awarded

     (AAPNW-OH) – Through the Greater Columbus Arts Council Board of Trustees’ vision and leadership, advocacy and collaboration, they have stepped up to the plate and awarded 11 grants totaling $12,875 in Boost (Broadening Organizations’ Overall Skills and Technology) and Artists in the Community grants.

     Boost is a capacity-building program supporting the governance, leadership, technology and professional development needs of not-for-profit arts organizations. Applicants are encouraged to make a long-term commitment to continuous improvement and to develop skills that result in benefits not only to the organization but also to the larger arts community. They are accepted and funded monthly on a first come, first served basis. Awards went to: Glass Axis / External Financial Audit / $ 4,500 and Wild Goose Creative / Board Retreat – Strategic Planning / $4,000.

     Artists in the Community provide support for Professional Development Assistance and Supply Grants. These support programs give artists the opportunity to enhance their skills and create work that helps drive the vibrancy of the arts in Columbus and Franklin County. They also are accepted and funded monthly on a first come, first serve basis.

     The following awards went to: Supply Grants: Tom Baillieul $450, Laura Bidwa $325, Justin Braun $500, Tom Hubbard $450, Aimee Sones $500 and Steven Thompson $450. For Professional Development: Chris Shaw $700 (South by Southwest Conference) and Aimee Sones $1,000 (Bullseye Glass Conference, BECon 2011).
