(AAPNW-OH) – Who am I is a question that cannot be answered with simply as son or daughter of. It takes telling the stories about those before us which lends to not only how, but also why we celebrate the thanksgivings of our cultural heritage. On Saturday, February 12 at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center in Worthington, as part of Black History Month, goers of “Adinkra Acents” can experience this renewed validation.
Opening at 10:00 am, an exhibition of African art will be on display and remain on view through the end of the month. Also on the day’s events are a series of shows beginning at 3:00 pm with drumming; 4:00 pm fashion; and at 5:00 pm, Ebenezer Children’s Choir will perform African folk tunes, contemporary and gospel songs as well as African and liturgical dances and poetry.
