Going on view Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Schmidlapp Free School Library in Piqua, Ohio, “Model Train & Train Art Exhibition†is coordinated by the Piqua Arts Council to give recognition to this hobby, which is still a viable active interest among many today.
Gail Stickleman’s model of Fort Piqua Plaza, Gregg Mitchell‘s model of the Sidney, Ohio’s Big Four Bridge and Lexington Union Station, originally designed by John Grill, will be on display as well with more trains and models.
In addition to the exhibit, there will be evening presentations: On Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 pm, Dick Strous talks on N Scale trains in small spaces – How to build a suitcase layout; Friday, May 17 at 6:30 pm Marilyn Kosier on History of the railroad in Bradford Museum; Tuesday, May 21 at 6:00 pm, Jim Marks, History of trains in Hammond, Indiana; and on Thursday, May 23 at 6:00 pm and on Friday, May 24 at 1:00 pm with Mark Reedy on his experience with his hobby/obsession, since he was 2 months and 24 days old.
Other exhibiting artists are: Tom Sorrell, Libby Rudolf, Charles Wright, Meghan Hager, Chuck Clevenger, John Rausch, Judy Belvo, Marsha Elliott, Dan Knepper and Christopher Leeper.
