Coleman to ‘bat’ first in prose vie

     (NWPR-OH) – Authors of Prose have been speaking their creations at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center for a decade in the Poetry Series. To earmark the program’s longevity, the Center has established a competition, which is open to residents of Miami County and bordering counties. The submission deadline is March 21.

     On Thursday, February 24 at 7:30 pm, Rita Coleman is the first poet to be featured, followed by Terrilynn Meece on March 31.

     Other aspects of the competition are: the work must be original, never published and never read at a Hayner poetry reading; poems will be judged and selections made by faculty at Wright State University according to age group: Elementary  and Junior High up to age 14; High School and Adults. There is a $5.00 entry fee for up to two poems. In addition, there will be cash prizes in each category and winners offered to present their poetry or have it read at the April 21 event.
