Concert series has much action

Beginning on Thursdays, from May 30 through July 18, 2019, the Indiana Historical Society’s Concerts on the Canal begins with live music from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located downtown at 450 West Ohio Street in Indianapolis.

Free seating is available on the grassy area along the Canal Walk. Goers can also purchase seating on the Kruse Family Stardust Terrace in tables of eight ($60/$45 IHS members) or tables of four ($50/$35 IHS members). Single seats are available at the community table ($12/$10 IHS members).

    The Stardust Terrace Café, outdoor grill and cash bar opens at 5:00 pm. All alcohol must be purchased and consumed on site, however goers are welcome to bring their own food and nonalcoholic beverages.

In addition, IHS encourages goers to take full advantage of free admission and extended hours at the History Center on Thursdays, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and on July 4, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Eli Lilly Hall will feature a rotating schedule of special exhibits, while the Indiana Experience will showcase its newest offering, “You Are There 1939: Exploring Angel Mounds.” The new exhibit allows guests to dig into the state’s past by traveling back in time to a historic archaeological dig in Southern Indiana.

The 2019 Concerts on the Canal series lineup is: Thursday, May 30, Jessie Brown, Country, rock and soul; Thursday, June 6, Rob Dixon, Classic jazz; Thursday, June 13, Living Proof, Pop, R&B and dance; Thursday, June 20, Deb Mullins, Cabaret with a mix of standards, bluesy jazz and pop; Thursday, June 27, Groove Essential, Dance hits; Thursday, July 4, Soul Deep, Soul, jazz and rock; Thursday, July 11, The Bishops, Party songs you love to dance to; and Thursday, July 18, Gordon Bonham, Blues.
