Dayton artist’s works next showing

"Evan James"

(NWPR-OH) – “As an artist of portraiture through my drawings, I continue to strive to bring out the beauty, mood and character of each individual I draw and to show an accurate likeness that also reflects the inner spirit,” says Lesley Walton, whose works goes on view at Bear’s Mill during November. “My paintings tend to concentrate more on nostalgia, taking black and white photos from the past and bringing them to life again with color. I feel like Dorothy landing in Oz and opening the door from her black and white life to a more colorful world.”

Walton, a resident of the Dayton, Ohio area, has been stepping back in time during the last several years, taking black and white photographs and bringing the subject to life with color. Her graduation series is representative which “allows me to decide the personality of each person through bold use of color,” writes the artist. At the same time, her graphite drawings steer away from the traditional portrait with a softer visual feel by view, angle of the hands and faces.

An artist’s reception will be on Friday, October 29 from 6:00-9:00 pm, and to view more works by artist Walton, including her professional achievements, see www.lwaltonportraits.com.
