More than $1.5 million in grant funds to support 20 West Virginia projects statewide has been awarded to assist local non-profit Child Advocacy Centers in addressing the problem of child abuse and neglect, according to Governor Earl Ray Tomblin.
“It’s no secret that our state’s future lies in the hands of our children. They are not only our most precious resource, but also our most vulnerable,” Governor Tomblin said. “As leaders, we have a duty to ensure our kids not only feel safe, but are safe at home, at school, and in every aspect of their lives. I’m confident this funding will help strengthen our state’s network of programs to put kids first and give families across the Mountain State a variety of resources to ensure our children grow up to be happy, healthy and successful.”
