The Rapid City Arts Council has named Denise Du Broy as its new Museum Director and Curator of the Dahl Arts Center. She has served as curator for the Rapid City Arts Council for about the last seven years.
About
After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Crafts & Their History from the University of California at Santa Cruz, Denise Du Broy traveled in Europe, North Africa and England for six months before pursuing post-graduate work in ceramics at San Francisco Art Institute.
Receiving a job offer to teach art at Crossroads High School in Santa Monica, Denise moved to Southern California where she studied painting and taught art for twelve years while working as a professional artist before moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts with her family.
In 1993, Denise and her husband moved their family to South Dakota where they bought a ranch and raised buffalo until 2008. Before becoming curator for the Rapid City Arts Council, Denise worked full time as a professional artist and volunteered at the Dahl Arts Center, first as a Rapid City Arts Council board member, then as an exhibits committee member. After leaving the exhibits committee, Denise joined the collections committee and later became co-chair of the Visual Arts Advisory Board. During the Dahl’s 2009 expansion and renovation, Denise worked on various committees.
