(NWPR-OH) – On Saturday, February 12 at 7:30 pm the Lima Symphony Orchestra will perform works of Tchaikovsky and Profofiev at the Veterans’ Memorial Civic Center as well as violin soloist Alexandrina Boyanova, who will perform Prokofiev’s ethereal Violin Concerto No. 1.
Tchaikovsky’s Waltz from Eugene Onegin begins the evening and will conclude with his Symphony No. 6 in B minor, the Pathetique, which was Tchaikovsky’s final completed symphony that is retold in music the story of his life, the anguish of unrequited love, a conflict between platonic passion and the desires of the flesh, as well as his secret and proud struggle with his own sensual appetites for the sale of the beautiful and the good.

Born in 1987 in Sofia, Bulgarian violinist Alexandrina Boyanova is part of a family of musicians. Since age 10, she has been an active soloist with the Chamber Orchestra Orfei, and is a frequent guest soloist to leading orchestras in Italy, Russia and Bulgaria. After initial training from her father, she continued violin studies in the National Music School Lubomir Pipkov and graduated with honors. She was also accepted as a student of Maestro Savatore Accardo in Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona, Italy. Since 2006, Mr. Boyanova has been a student at Manhattan School of Music, where she received the Gabe Wiener Undergraduate Scholarship for a Student of Promise. In addition, she won the 2010 Friends of the Symphony Young Artists Competition, College Strings division, including the German and Austrian Music National Competition; the Mozart International Violin Competition, Sweden; the Hopes, Talents, Masters International Youth Music Festival violin competition; the Young Musical Talents International Competition; and the Young Virtuosos International Violin Competition.
