WAUSEON, OH (NWPR) – Located at 8848 State Highway 108, the Museum of Fulton County will celebrate the 175th anniversary of Fulton County’s founding with the “We The People of Fulton County” exhibition that will highlight the ten largest groups of immigrants that came to the County to make a new life with a Grand Opening on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
Using mannequins in period clothing, artifacts, quilts, photographs and stories will be shared of the immigrant families who were registered in the Federal Census between 1850 and 1950. The exhibit will also feature a flag flash card game for children, including a guest book and world map for people to record what country their ancestors came from.
Additionally, a look at the culinary history of immigrant families will also be offered with a new cookbook, “The Immigrant’s Table” which has been published as part of this project and available for purchase.
Goers are encouraged to visit the Spiess Research room to access online genealogy resources and genealogy forms will be available for families to take home to work on their family tree.
Other special events this fall happening are on Saturday, September 28, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm is “Our World: Worldwide Day of Play” and “Hobo Day” at Wauseon Depot from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm; “Haunting History Tours” on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 from 6:30-8:30 pm, and “Mrs. Phillip’s Regency Christmas Tea” on Saturday, November 30 at 12:00 pm.
