Fashion show to feature a pool of the bests

(AAPNW) – The Indianapolis Museum of Art will present a runway fashion show featuring uncanny silhouettes and unexpected materials. “Project IMA: Fashion Unbound” is all about the works by local and national fashion designers, on stage in the Tobias Theater between 7:00 and 8 pm on Friday, October 22.

More than 40 artists and fashion designers to show their original works were chosen from a national pool of submissions that featured innovative uses of re-purposed and used materials. Top designers from not only Indianapolis, but also New York, Chicago and Rhode Island will take to the runway, along with four returning designers.

The Elizabeth Kraft Meek Fashion Award, a best of show juried prize of $500, is on the presentation agenda the night of the event. Evaluation is based on creative uniqueness and the originality of the work. An Audience Choice Award will also be presented based on text message voting.

The IMA Fashion Arts Society (FAS) will sponsor “Behind the Seams” which is the official Project IMA after party inviting guests to mingle with designers and models and see the runway pieces up close. As the newest IMA affiliate organization, the Fashion Arts Society seeks to promote interest and appreciation of textile and fashion arts through the study of couture and cloth from around the world.
