PORTLAND, IN (NWPR)  – On Friday, March 8 and Saturday 9th, the Jay County Visitor and Tourism Bureau will hold its 16th annual Jay County Fiber Arts Festival at the Jay Community Center located at 115 E. Water Street. Fiber artists of all descriptions will be featured and there will be vendors of all kinds of fibers from the common to the exotic, including wool, mohair, angora, flax, alpaca, cotton, silk and buffalo.
Scheduled are classes, hands-on activity and a variety of demonstrations such as on Friday 8th at 6:00 pm with Fiber artist Kate Larson, who uses fiber arts as a bridge between art and agriculture. For children, they can earn a fun patch. Limberlost Naturalist Curt Burnette will have a display that focuses on how fibers are used in nature and storyteller Sheron McClung will entertain the young people with her Mother Goose stories.
Goers can also make a “Firefly†from recycled items at the Jay County Solid Waste Management District booth.
