Former Gas Station makes design list

Architectural Digest has selected the 410 Bakery in New Albany, Indiana as one of “America’s 7 Most Beautiful Gas Station Conversions” to join a list of other chosen gas stations converted to eateries across the US.

Located near the Ohio River, in a 1929 Art Deco building, this former business was the Economy Filling Station, which was renovated in 2016 and became the home of 410 Bakery, offering an array of artisan breads, pastries and coffee as well as other menu choices of quiche, and Cajun shrimp and grits.

According to the owners, 410 Bakery took its name where it first started in, 410 Patrol Road, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Their other choice comes from the Bible verse: 1 Peter 4:10, which was Emily Butts’ mission for the bakery: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
