Gittleman offers food, drink, music

     (NWPR-OH) – Maestro Neal Gittleman has chosen“Viva Italia!” as the festive Italian theme to continue the tradition on Friday, December 31 at 8:00 pm in the Schuster Center when the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra presents their Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration Concert. 

     A wide variety of Italian music will be highlighted, including light selections from the classics and some of the great moments from Italian opera and Neapolitan song.  Also in the lineup are four outstanding soloists: soprano Karin Wolverton, tenor Scott Piper, and the DPO’s own Jessica Hung, violinist, and Ashley Hall, trumpeter.  The program will include the following works: Mendelssohn, Symphony No. 4, 1st movement, Tchaikovsky, Capriccio Italien, Respighi, The Pines of Rome, 4th movement, Denza, Finiculi-Funicula, Di Capua,   O Sole Mio, Mazzo, Sulle Bello Azzurro Danubio and La Marcha di Generale Radetzky, Vivaldi Valdi,Winter, Arban, The Carnival of Venice and selected opera arias.

     The Schuster Center restaurant, Citilites invites patrons for a full pre-concert dinner by making your reservation at 937.222.0623. Also in the Wintergarden,  Dinner-by-the-Bites  will feature a variety of Italian delights. The concert includes a festive balloon drop at its conclusion, ending around 10:30 pm with plenty of time for your own continued festivities.
