Guests to the gardens at the Indianapolis Museum of Art will be among the first to discover more than 70,000 blooming bulbs, including 20,000 new tulips planted last fall by IMA horticulturists.
Every weekend beginning Saturday, March 26, 2016, visitors will enjoy the gardens and historic Oldfields estate with a narrated tour on the Late Miss Kate garden tram Tours. In addition, visitors will also discover fresh seasonal additions inside the main Museum building. On display in Pulliam Family Great Hall later this month is a dramatic ‘50s evening dress adorned with vibrant zinnias by Hoosier fashion designer Norman Norell. The bright floral dress brings the color of the gardens indoors and helps to celebrate Indiana’s Bicentennial.
A new addition to the Showalter Pavilion— the IMA’s gateway to the gardens— is a mesmerizing installation by contemporary artist Spencer Finch. Following Nature draws from Finch’s longtime admiration for Claude Monet’s celebrated gardens in Giverny, France. Incorporating hanging glass panels and color-tinted windows that match the colors found in Giverny and pigments used by the famed Impressionist, the installation offers guests a kaleidoscopic experience of shifting color and light throughout the day.

Guests can view floral masterpieces by both renowned Impressionists and our team of dedicated horticulturists. Color and beauty abound at the IMA.”
