#DTFW Architecture
This exhibition will feature historic images of relevant downtown Fort Wayne architecture paired with contemporary images from outstanding area photographers. A selection of vintage Fort Wayne photo-postcards from the collection of local Fort Wayne historian Randolph Harter will also be displayed. ARCH, The History Center, and local historians will provide educational and historical information about existing and demolished downtown structures.
Exhibition contributor says Randolph Harter says, “Postcards in the early 1900’s were the most inexpensive way to communicate at a time when the average person had neither a telephone nor automobile. For 1 or 2 cents you could send a message across the country, or just across town. Additionally, in many cases the only image preserved of a local event, structure, or vista is from an early postcard.”
In addition to the above exhibition, opening in the Freistroffer Family Gallery will be photographs from the Fort Wayne Photographers Club as well as the opening of “Photography by Tara Denny” in the Betty Fishman Gallery.
