BRIEF ABOUT: Located in this city’s downtown at 107 West Washington Street, the new art center has as Blackford County Arts Community Board President James Forcum said, “Thanks to the generosity of many founding donors and the hard work of many volunteers, the dream of an arts center for Blackford County is finally coming true.”

Locally managed by the Blackford County Arts Community Board, a fund raising for the project was conducted by the community board and resulted in over $26,000 in local private support for the renovation and start-up costs of the new center.  In addition, many volunteers have contributed hundreds of hours of labor in addition to the cash gifts.

The facility is being developed on a phased basis.  The center will include music and visual arts instruction space as well as a meeting area.  Later in 2013 the community board plans to complete development of a gallery in the front half of the center.  Currently, Arts in the Parks and PenWorks classes are already being offered, including individual music lessons and a group piano lab for children as a part of Arts Place’s MusicWorks program.
