TITLE: 23rd Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit
BRIEF ABOUT: This is a juried exhibit of works created by Huntington University visual art students during this academic year. There will be a variety of media on display including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, drawings, photography, computer illustration and web design. Stephen Batzka, a retired visual arts professor from Manchester University, is the guest juror for the exhibit.
About: Named in recognition of the generosity of Robert E. Wilson, the gallery is an academic resource of Huntington University, a Christian liberal arts institution. The mission of the Robert E. Wilson Gallery is to curate and exhibit artwork of emerging and established artists and to collect and preserve artwork of relevance in the Huntington University’s permanent collection.
The gallery fulfills this mission by exhibiting original works of art on a rotating basis throughout the academic year and by exhibiting the university collections in public spaces throughout the campus. The gallery programming presents a diverse range of innovative exhibitions and educational programs, exploring contemporary art and ideas that enrich the artistic and intellectual climate of the university.
The gallery strives to provide a venue for academic endeavors, artistic freedom, artistic excellence, and the display of artistic and intellectual skills through knowledge, creativity, and expression.
Named in recognition of the generosity of Robert E. Wilson, the gallery is dedicated to educating, enriching and engaging students and the public through art exhibitions of the highest quality and to promote the visual arts within our community. Seven to eight exhibitions are curated annually, whereas these exhibitions explore various media, processes, and genres in order to foster dialogue both in and out of the classroom. In addition to the work of emerging and established artists we offer annual exhibitions of outstanding work by students, department of visual arts alumni, and faculty. All exhibitions are accompanied by gallery talks and a reception that is free and open to the public.
