TITLE: Black History Public Art Legacy Project

BRIEF ABOUT: A call for artists to create sculpture works for a public art legacy project to be created and installed in the Indiana State House in Indianapolis, Indiana. Artists are invited to submit an application to design and fabricate one or both traditional bronze busts. The works are intended to celebrate the life and public service of two African American legislators, James Sidney Hinton (1834-1892), the first African American elected to the Indiana General Assembly (1880). The second bronze bust will be of Julia Carson (1938-2007), whose career culminated in her service as a Congresswoman for Indiana from 1997-2007. The IAC Request for Proposal and photographs and information related to the subjects are available at: www.in.gov/arts/2756.htm

MORE DETAILS: Applications must be completed in the IAC’s online grant system at:  www.in.gov/arts/onlineapplications&reports.htm.
