(NWPR-OH) – Beginning Tuesday, November 2 and for the following eight weeks at the Findlay Art League, a drawing class, âAnime Character Designâ with instructor Rachel DeVene is designed for adults and teens 15 and up.
    Based on Japanese animation, such as Naruto and Bleach, participants will develop a character from a written description or an even a simple sketch. The objective is not only the learning of the basics of anatomy, design and color, but also to improve drawing technique as well as create a character model sheet.
    Anime is animation originating in Japan and has a large audience in Japan, including worldwide recognition. The earliest known anime dates to 1917 and endless original Japanese cartoons were produced over the years, both hand-drawn and computer. The characteristic anime style developed in the 1960s, notably with the work of Osamu Tezuka, and became known outside Japan in the 1980s. It is used in television series, films, video, video games, commercials, and internet-based releases, and represents most, if not all, genres of fiction.
     Located at 119 West Crawford Street in Findlay, Ohio, the class time is from 6:30-8:00 pm. Students are to bring a sketch book, pencil, micron pens black for sepia, including either a description or sketch of the character they want to develop.
