WHERE: Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft.
WHEN: Through July 1, 2012.
TITLE: 50 Years of Studio Glass
BRIEF ABOUT: The exhibition features works from more than 60 artists as well as some of the most acclaimed glass artists in the U.S. like Richard Jolley, Richard Marquis, Harvey Littleton, John Miller, Nancy Callan, Marvin Lipofsky, Ben Moore, Katherine Gray and Kentucky’s Stephen Rolfe Powell as well as established local artists: Paul Nelson, Brook White, Che Rhodes and emerging local artists: Matthew Cummings, Devyn Baron, Amy Pender and Jonathan Capps and others.
As part of the exhibition, KMAC will also be showing “Pioneers of Studio Glass,” a video that was produced by WGTE Public Media for the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass. It takes a fascinating look at the 1962 Toledo Workshops where Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino first experimented with making glass outside of the factory setting.
Two other KMAC Discussion Series events have been planned to take place in conjunction with this exhibition, one on Friday, May 18 at 7:00 pm with critic James Yood, and one on Friday, June 1 at 7:00 pm with artist Laura Donefer.
