Opening on Friday, June 3, 2016 in the Ruth Brennan Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, “Cut & Paste” is an exhibit showcasing the sculptural work of local Lakota artist Dwayne Wilcox, who will give a brief talk at 6:00 pm. The exhibit remains on view through September 10.
Born and reared on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, Wilcox, who is an Oglala Lakota, is a self-taught artist that has been practicing his craft for over three decades. His work has been widely exhibited and is in the collections of institutions throughout the United States including the Smithsonian, the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth and the Peabody Museum at Harvard. His work has received numerous awards from the Sante Fe, Northern Plains and the Head Museum’s Indian Art Markets. He was awarded a Bush Fellowship in 2006. Wilcox lives and works in Rapid City.
