About
Luca Molnar introduces her paintings and floor installations with questions the past and sheds light on the present. Her work uses historical figures and personal mythologies as its starting point, building networked connections through both research and intuition. In her paintings, pattern references imagined domestic spaces, allowing the private sphere to emerge as a complex and contradictory site worthy of our attention. Her interest in our relationships with the past, memory, and identity extend into her installation work and writing.
Eugene Ofori Agyei is a ceramic sculptural artist and an educator. He has exhibited his work internationally and nationally, winning multiple awards. “My artistic practice is informed as a Ghanaian currently living in the US. I explore techniques revolving around the deconstruction of the standard of dependence on glazes as the sole ceramic finishing technique. As is the case in much of traditional African art, I disregard Western aesthetic expectations with the work being concept driven instead. I characterize a visual scenery, commanding the experience and engagement of the viewer to explore the complexities of double consciousness.”
Marlon Tobias provides an intimate look into the individual people who have shaped his community’s cultures and traditions. He lives his life as an artist, archivist, historian, and storyteller. At the core, his work strives to reveal the richness of African American life, using the history of drawing and painting as an anchor, he chronicles the rich stories framed within the context of his subjects’ daily lives.
