(PNAN-MT) – The Yellowstone Art Museum has appointed Bob Durden to the position of Senior Curator as of August 1, 2012. “I’ve been privileged to spend the majority of my career in the arts and higher education, and I greatly look forward to performing continued service to the regional arts community, here in my hometown, at the grand museum where I cut my teeth. It’s great to be home,” said Durden.
For the past thirteen years, Bob has served as curator at the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, and before that as director and curator of the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, Kentucky. In addition, he has taught in the theater and art departments of Rocky Mountain College.
From 1991 to 1999, Durden was a member of the curatorial staff at the Yellowstone Art Center and saw the museum through its three-fold expansion and renaming to the Yellowstone Art Museum. Today as he returns to lead the department responsible for the exhibitions and permanent collection, which since January 2012, he has worked as project manager on the permanent collection, “Boundless Visions” that open on August 6, is YAM’s new interactive exhibition featuring a choice selection of artwork directly from its permanent collections, which emphasize art from the mid-twentieth century to the present. This showing is the first and only exhibition in Montana to tell the story of art in museum’s region from its beginnings to the present day.
