New shows on Friday’s agenda

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (NWPR) – On December 2, 2022 at the Harrison Center, “First Friday and Open Studio Night” will be from 6:00-9:00 pm. The programming is free and no registration is required. They are:

“Ginger & Spice & Everything Nice” is an annual group color-themed show in the Harrison Gallery. Sculptures, paintings and more in ranges of orange from deep auburn to bright apricot by dozens of local artists will be on view.

     “My Fair Indy” by Dee Dee Bernhardt in the City Gallery will be a collection of oil paintings that depicts the whimsy of the Indiana State Fair and other Indianapolis staples.

“The Hood” by Tashema Davis in the Speck Gallery showing oil portraits that shine the light on fatherhood, manhood and childhood of the black man, emphasizing vulnerability and tenderness.

“Medicine Man” by Brian Charles Johnson in the Hank & Dolly’s Gallery. This artist processes his experience of addiction through oil paintings of small-town Southern Indiana. An exploration of light and shadow from moments he lived detailing an emotional man with an evocative view of our world.

     “Indiana Plein Air Painters Association” is a juried Member group exhibit in the Underground Gallery, featuring landscapes and various outdoor images of Indiana and beyond.

The annual “Winter Window Walk” outside around the perimeter of the Harrison, local artists created three-dimensional displays in the Center’s street-level basement windows. Hygge” is the 2022 theme who is a Danish cultural concept that values warmth, happy coziness and togetherness.

The IndieAna Handicraft Exchange is from 5:00-10:00 pm in the historic gymnasium with 45+ local vendors offering a vast array of gifts items for sale.
