Housed in the back of a custom retrofitted 1970 aluminum stepvan, Axle Contemporary is an art gallery on wheels with the interior of the mobile gallery transformed for this project into a “photo-booth.” Axle Contemporary collaborators, Jerry Wellman and Matthew Chase-Daniel, will create photographic portraits of all who stop by with each participant holding a small drawing or object in their portrait. Two copies of each photograph are immediately printed in the mobile printing station—one is given free to the participant, the other hung on the walls of the Axle Contemporary mobile gallery.
